Introduction to kunsaka

Kunsaka was founded in 2011. It is an unincorporated charity

currently undergoing registration as a Charitable Incorporated

Organisation (CIO) with the Charity commission.

Governance

The Trustee board meets once a month to deal with

governance issues. All board members are elders from the

BAME community.

Staffing

We do not have any salaried staff but there is a long-standing

part-time administrator who is paid on a self- employed

hourly basis to administer meetings, book speakers, maintain

the finances and help with correspondence and

representation.

Funding

Funding for our activities comes from donations from the

community and of late a grant from MIND via National

Survivor User Network (NSUN), which has enabled us to

move our monthly meeting to a digital platform using Zoom.

The newsletter writing, layout and editing are carried out by a

volunteer but funding is still needed for printing and

distribution. Approximately 100 newsletters were distributed

every quarter. Recipients include individual members,

organisations, sheltered housing complexes, residential care

homes, libraries, and doctors
